چکیده

The wide application of GPS carrier-phase (CP) time transfer is limited by the problem of boundary discontinuity (BD). The discontinuity has two categories. One is “day boundary discontinuity,” which has been studied extensively and can be solved by a few methods [1–5]. The other category of discontinuity, called “anomaly boundary discontinuity (anomaly-BD),” comes from a GPS-measurements data anomaly. This paper focuses on the second category of discontinuity (i.e., anomaly-BD). We first demonstrate that a few minutes of GPSmeasurements data anomaly are enough to lead to a discontinuity of more than 200 picoseconds in the GPS CP time transfer. To eliminate the anomaly-BD, we propose a simple, but powerful strategy, i.e., polynomial curvefitting for the anomaly. The fitted phase measurement is typically less than 3 cm from the original phase measurement, in terms of the root mean square (RMS). And the fitted code measurement is typically less than 80 cm from the original code measurement. If we replace the anomaly with the fitted data, we can avoid the re-estimation of the phase ambiguities after the anomaly. Thus, the anomalyBD at the anomaly should disappear. Tests show that the curve-fitting strategy works very well for up to 20 min of GPS-measurements data anomaly.

GPS Jamming and GPS Carrier-Phase Time Transfer

This paper studies the impact of GPS jamming on GPS carrier-phase time transfer. To study this issue, at NIST, we have installed a commercial GPS jamming detector since 2014 April. During 2014 April – 2015 April, the detector detected more than 100 jamming events, though there had been a few outages of jamming detection. The jamming events usually last for less than 2 min. We find that almost a...

Least Squares Techniques for GPS Receivers Positioning Filter using Pseudo-range and Carrier Phase Measurements

In present study, using Least Squares (LS) method, we determine the position smoothing in GPS single-frequency receiver by means of pseudo-range and carrier phase measurements. The application of pseudo-range or carrier phase measurements in GPS receiver positioning separately can lead to defects. By means of pseudo-range data, we have position with less precision and more distortion. By use of...

Application of Network RTK Positions and Geometric Constraints to the Problem of Attitude Determination Using the GPS Carrier Phase Measurements

Nowadays, navigation is an unavoidable fact in military and civil aerial transportations. The Global Positioning System (GPS) is commonly used for computing the orientation or attitude of a moving platform. The relative positions of the GPS antennas are computed using the GPS code and/or phase measurements. To achieve a precise attitude determination, Carrier phase observations of GPS requiring...

A Gps Receiver Designed for Carrier-phase Time Transfer

The development of time transfer techniques using GPS carrier-phase observations promises the capability to deliver sub-nanosecond time transfer capabilities. Testing to date has shown that conventional GPS receivers introduce significant time offset in the carrier phase. NAVSYS have developed a GPS receiver capable of making observations with high phase stability. Test data is presented in thi...
